Passing of Deacon Don DeRoze
Deacon Donald (Don) G. DeRoze was born November 21, 1934 and went home to the Lord on August 4, 2015. Deacon Don, as many remember him, worked for the Defense Intelligence Agency for many years retiring as a Senior Official. However, before retiring and at the age of 51, in 1986, he was ordained to the Deaconate of the Catholic Church. Deacon Don joined the Knights of Columbus in 1989 and became a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus in April of 1991. During his time with Knights of Columbus, Deacon Don consistently offered a monthly Communion service to his home council brothers of Bishop Thomas W. Lyons Council, #9808. The council meets at the Church of the Resurrection in Burtonsville, Maryland where Deacon Don was a member of the congregation. This Communion service was always very well attended and appreciated by the Knights of the Bishop Lyons Council. Deacon Don also offered his services as a Deacon to the Fourth Degree, Archbishop Michael Curley Assembly #383 in College Park, Maryland. Deacon Don will always be remembered for his many inspiring and thoughtful sermons at the Church of the Resurrection while serving the Parish for many years before retiring due to illness and age. The Members of the Knights of Columbus miss him, pray for him and have added his name to the daily Masses said at Saint Mary's Parish in New Haven, Connecticut where the Order was founded. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let Your perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in Peace. Amen. — Frank Klem, PGK
