On this page our Council displays pictures from past events to give you an idea of what is important to us, as members of the Knights of Columbus. We also display pictures that our members would like to retain as memories of their accomplishments.

The Fraternal Year 2015 - 2016 Officers of the Bishop Lyons Council were installed on Saturday August 15. Mass was conducted by Worthy Chaplain Fr. Jeff DeFayette. The Installation Ceremony was officiated by Worthy District Deputy Dave Knitowski and Worthy District Warden Keith Hurst. PSD Peter Davio represented the State Council, accompanied by his wife Lady Francine. A reception followed. Here are some pictures from the event:
At 8AM on Saturday, August 8, 2015 eight Knights met at Seibel's for breakfast. Here are some pictures of four of the attendees outside of Seibel's.
On June 16, we held our annual End of the Year Pot Luck Dinner. Here are some of the pictures of the event. At the event Grand Knight Chris Coker recognized Chris Kolb as "Knight of the Year." Then, outgoing Grand Knight, Chris Coker, turned the gavel over to our incoming Grand Knight, Chris Kolb.
On June 6 our Council conducted our Semi-Annual Flea Market. Here are some of the pictures of our Knights in action.
On May 10, the Knights handed out carnations after Mass to mothers, grandmothers and mothers to be on Mothers Day. Also, Past Grand Knight Basil Allison handed out carnations at the Masses at Riderwood. GK Chris Coker is shown holding some of the last flowers that were left over on Mothers Day.
On May 9, 2015 a group of Knights worked on the Mary Garden. Here is a picture of Mary’s statue in the Mary Garden as well as pictures of some of the Knights who worked on this activity.
The Knights assisted the Youth group of Resurrection Parish with a Pancake Breakfast again on April 26, 2015.
In the first picture below, Grand Knight Chris Coker is socializing or “makingthe rounds.” He is also shown at the table of Raul Chang, our Worthy Chancellor, and his family. Chris is also quite talented in handling and flipping pancakes. The last picture shows one of our newest members, Deacon Dave Suley with some of the Youth group members.
Bishop Lyons Council was asked if it could assist the Youth of the Parish, who are trying to raise money to make a mission trip to Alaska, Specifically we were asked to support their Pancake Breakfast held on Sunday, March 15, 2015. Grand Knight Chris Coker, Deputy Grand Knight Chris Kolb, and Past Grand Knight (and "chief cook") Tom Aylward helped by cooking the breakfast. Over 100 breakfasts were served. March for Life Dinner: Our Council helped out by providing a spaghetti dinner for approximately 168 teens and their adult chaperons who came down from Michigan to join in the Annual March for Life. The dinner was provided on January 23, 2015, the night after the March. The weather was inclement and it took some time for the marchers to get back to Burtonsville. Bishop Lyons Council conducted a Keep Christ in Christmas Poster Contest with the Religious Education students of Resurrection Parish. We selected four winners from different age groups. Below Worthy Treasurer, Greg Lawrence, presents checks on behalf of the Council to two of the winners, as Worthy Chaplain (and Pastor) Father Scott Hahn and Worthy Financial Secretary, Wayne Brown, PGK look on. Two winners were unable to make the presentations.
At our December Social Meeting, held on December 16, Bishop Lyons Council held its Annual Pot Luck Dinner and Christmas Gift Exchange. The Knights and their families had a great time at this event. On December 6, 2014 Bishop Lyons Council sponsored a Breakfast with Santa for the kids of the people attending the Winterfest. Here are three pictures for this event:
On December 5 and 6, Bishop Lyons Council supported theWinterFest of Resurrection Catholic Church. We provided most of the food for the event which helped the Councilraise funds. We also sold the Keep Christ in Christmas car magnets at this event. Here are some pictures of our Knights in action:
As part of our Council’s ongoing Religious Vocation Support Program, Basil Allison, PGK worked with our Chancellor Raul Chang to identify Ferdinand Mukhar, as the seminarian to support for the Fraternal Year beginning July 2014. Our Council presented Ferdinand with a check for $500 on the evening of December 2, 2014. Below are three pictures taken at this event. The first picture shows our Worthy Grand Knight Chris Coker congratulating Seminarian Mukhar, as Chancellor Raul Chang looks on. The second picture is one with Raul and Ferdinand together. In the third picture, Deputy Grand Knight Chris Kolb presents the $500 check on behalf of Bishop Lyons Council to Ferdinand to help him with his studies and as a visible sign of our Council’s support for seminarians.
During this Fall Bishop Lyons Council was present outside the Briggs Chaney Safeway; the Cloverly Safeway; the Burtonsville Giant; and the Church of the Resurrection after Masses handing out Tootsie Rolls to thank people for their donations as we raised money to benefit the intellectually disabled. Below are some pictures from the weekend of October 25-26, 2014.
On the evening of October 11, 2014, Bishop Lyons Council held its Beef, Brew and Beats fundraiser for the various charities the Council supports. Pit beef sandwiches, Mac &Cheese, baked beans and cole slaw were served for dinner while the attendees listened to the music of the DJ, “Urban Cowboy.” A few brave souls even got up to dance. Coffee and cake was served for dessert and the bartender served beer, wine and soda.
